So, when this game is $10, it might be worth getting, certainly not at $40, and even that depends on how terrible the DLC ends up being. You can put in creatures, but that is it, can't change HP, loot, stats, or anything else. Comparing it to PoE is kind of unfair because let's face it, that game is one of the richest CRPGs ever made. For $25 or so (thank you GMG) I think it's pretty decent. Nah it has always been there, they mainly made it for player created Mods, but you can use it in the main campaign, it warns of some clipping when you turn it on, but it's never really been noticeable to me TBH.

If I may offer a slight correction you can play D:OS with full 360 camera panning. which is one of the things that sets this tactical RPG apart from the others (another one is that this one is full 3D with 360o camera rotation unlike D:OS and Pillars.)

It will be criticized for that by the many who buy it and are not all that interested in the player-created campaigns and/or live DM modules and campaigns. However, it is on the short side (~40 hours) if you compare it to similar tactical RPGs that are made with only one campaign to play such as Divinity:OS, Pillars of Eternity, Wastelands 2, BG, NWN, Icewind Dale, etc. The single player campaign is very good - good story, good voice acting (especially Larethar), etc.

I've heard both positive and negative on the single player campaign, is the single player campaign worth the cost of the game or is it just merely a subset and the development was really focused on the multiplayer DM content? I have a few friends that play which would definitely be fun but everyone loves a robust solo campaign when no one is available? We all know that reviews from these kind of places are always more objective than from gamers that actually have to pay for their game, and who will never receive ad money. As such, it does not surprise me at all, that they are pushing out free copies to review sites like this to pump up the hype/interest/sales. PoE was 20x the game this is, by way of comparison.Įdit: And just as an added bonus, this game is getting massacred on Steam reviews and it is WAY down on the sales list despite only having been released for less than a week. (And on top of that, it is setting itself up to sell a MASSIVE amount of DLC, because they only put in half of what they should have at release.) In the same way NWO is not a D&D game beyond the name and some very superficial use of the IP, SCL is even worse. It uses the D&D name to sell copies, but there is so much missing, it might as well not.Įven if you are a fan of the 5th ed rule set, it even departs from that a good bit.
